Video interview “Black Rain” with Natsuki “Doll” Kishi

Prior to my initial meeting with Natsuki Doll, I had a completely different image of her in my mind.  I thought she would be a little wild, a little crazy and a little loud perhaps. We met on the platform of a subway but when she first spoke I heard a soft, gentle voice resonate. After spending time with her all day long, what I found was a person who is intelligent and well-spoken even when conversing in a language which is not her  native tongue. She is a single, proud mother and a self-confessed schizophrenic (ironically she has a degree in Psychology)  which she believes helps her to be continually passionate about creation and self-expression .

So without further ado, here it is. The on-location interview with Natsuki “Doll” Kishi. Enjoy!

Sorry for my terrible interviewing skills. My first attempt – will be a little more creative and interactive next time

Here’s a transcript of the interview:

1) How did you get into modeling?

when i was 18 , i applied for miss japan ‘cos i got accepted as a candidate but my father disagreed to go to the final audition because it bothered my studies in university so i had to give up but that happening, i got some confidence so i try to get the audition for the modeling agency so thats the beginning

2) What are your influences and inspirations?

people always inspire me . i really love people watching. i love guessing their life or history ..in the subway i can find some unique fashion people. i always guess their life or how many family they have. i really love it. and people are very unique..so they always inspire me

3) In terms of visual inspiration, some of your works are erotic some glamour , beauty. what were your visual inspirations?

im not familiar with famous model or photographers names but visually i love art, i love dali. i often go to art museums ..visually they all inspire me

4) Favorite photos or paintings? or personal works?

i love shooting on site because i really love nature, feeling the wind or water or sunshine…i love outside shooting. the feelings always give me some ideas to model

5) Whats the best and worst part of modeling?

one thing is i can meet lots of people, if i didn’t model i wouldn’t have the chance to meet such fantastic people. the worst thing is money is a problem..honestly because i have to spend quite a lot of money to travel not every time its covered.

6) What makes you happy?

of course shooting makes me happy. after that, for example i update my website or fan page, people react give me compliments or critiques..for me any kind of reaction will be appreciated. even though people say its not so good. i appreciate it because they feel something. the scariest thing is their not interested. im always happy with their reaction

7 ) Your daughter is your treasure. what is she doing now?

my mother told me she took her skiing so im sure she’s enjoying now

Are you a spiritual person and do you believe in God?

I think im a spiritual person but God im not sure because i can say im buddhist, but on the other hand, i also believe in shintoism but i accept any kind of religion..so for me, everything could be God. So to me God is not so special but they influence on me in my daily life, like air wind..something like that ..for me God is not a big father or something its everywhere..close to me.

9) Any messages for fans?

I’ve gotten so many messages from my fans, but in reality, i haven’t been able to reply to all of them. i always feel sorry for them but i want to tell them is ..i really really appreciate it and their comments, messages , everything is really encourage me..raise me up and keep my high motivation for next shooting..so i always think about them every time i have a shoot so i really thank them and appreciate them.
