I did another photoshoot for Lu Nagata’s production at Le Baron de Paris in Aoyama. This time the event was sponsored by Time Warner, BELVEDERE VODKA & LaLa TV and it was to celebrate the release of “True Blood” DVD and cell phone application.
There were vampires, blood, weird creatures and elaborate outfits. The crowd was excited, atmosphere was awesome and as a photographer I find that people were much much more willing to engage in conversation with you . There’s very little intimidation as I am part of the staff much like the DJ, waiters and waitresses and bartenders. It’s awesome to be an event photographer and I used the night to do some networking as well. The technique I use for this kind of photography can be applied to any event photography where there is lots of movement, colors and in a dark environment such as in a nightclub.
Again, Lu is certainly changing the stigma attached to pole dancing in Japan to something of a performing art; I respect her passion.
It was a total of 6 hours or so shooting and I took around 500 photos. The very next day, I started on the editing and post-processing and spent 4 hours for about 120 or so images. Hard work but fun at the same time.

“I have been bullied and threatened but I will not be intimidated by them. This sequence with actress Jennie-Jane Monnaie was inspired by the classic Sheena Easton hit, 9 to 5 (the morning train). It's about a woman who waits all day for her man to come home from work. In my childhood during the 80s, my parents used to play Sheena Easton tracks all the time in[...]
